Brecon Leisure Centre's new gym was officially opened by table tennis Paralympian Rob Davies MBE and Welsh International rugby player Dan Lydiate on Wednesday 15th February 2017.
Freedom Leisure team members, council members, Rob Davies MBE and Dan Lydiate attended the opening ceremony of the centres new gym, during which Rich Gealy gave an enjoyable presentation on the project which has seen the gym undergo a £485k refurbishment.
Everyone was delighted to hear the immense increase in usage the gym has seen since it’s opening mid December, with over 4000 through the door in January alone and a fantastic increase in teen toners attendance too, seeing 90 youngsters using the gym each week.
The second phase of the project, has seen the old gym converted into a fitness studio which is now equipped with exciting new equipment and the latest sound system, all ready to deliver brand new classes, to provide a greater fitness programme at the centre.
The finishing touch has seen some fantastic new graphics to our wonderful new gym and brand new flooring laid all the way from reception, giving a brand new feel and improving our facilities for all.
