Carl Sargeant AM, the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children, has officially opened the Welsh Government-funded Priory Pre-School Flying Start scheme based at Priory School, Brecon. Fyi:Brecon was invited to take pictures.
Flying Start provides quality childcare to parents of all eligible 2-3 year olds for 2 and a half hours a day, 5 days a week for 39 weeks a year. In addition, there are at least 15 sessions of provision for the family during the school holidays.
Priory Pre-School Flying Start is supported by an experienced team of childcare workers and is backed up by an enhanced health visiting service, access to parenting programmes, speech and language services and communication support.
Cllr Matthew Dorrance who chairs the local board of trustees said: “I’m very pleased that the Cabinet Secretary has been able to officially open our new setting based at Priory School and I thank the Welsh Government for its continued commitment in supporting children and families in my community.
“The Flying Start staff at Priory Pre-School and the school’s head teacher have worked incredibly hard to get this scheme up and running and I pay tribute to their vision and commitment.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the positive impact Priory Pre-School will have on children and families in St John Ward.”
