On Monday May 1st, at the Coliseum Cinema, Brecon Film Society will be showing Taxi Tehran directed by Jafar Panahi. It was made in Iran in 2015.
A taxi ride with a difference: banned film director Jafar Panahi records the life of a cross-section of Iranian society, from pirate video vendors to human rights activists. A powerful, intelligent, witty and triumphant statement on the necessity of freedom of speech.
The Guardian said that this is “Engaging and disarming, a freewheeling piece of guerrilla film-making: a joyous ride”.....and you can’t say fairer than that!
Brecon Film Society shows its films on the first Monday of the month, starting at 7.30 promptly, with doors open at 7.15. They do not show advertisements beforehand. Non-members are most welcome, but for membership enquiries call Judith Fitton on 01874 623166.
