Brecon “Know Your Blood Pressure Day”
High blood pressure causes over half of all strokes and over seven million people across the UK don’t even know that they have the condition. A stroke is a brain attack which happens when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, caused by a clot or bleeding in the brain. There are more than 100,000 strokes in the UK each year; that is one stroke every 5 minutes. There are over 1.2 million people in the UK living with the effects of stroke.
The “Know Your Blood Pressure Day” is a national blood pressure awareness day that focuses on increasing public awareness of high blood pressure as a key risk factor for stroke. For many years Rotary International Great Britain and Ireland has joined forces with the Stroke Association charity to assit with holding events across the UK.
Brecon Rotary Club invites residents to take a moment to have a free blood pressure test between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm, on Saturday, 29 April, 2017, in the Guildhall, Brecon. Representatives will be on hand to offer advice and support, as well as provide a cup of tea or coffee. A blood pressure test is quick and painless, but it could save your life. We look forward to seeing you there !
