If you haven't been to Brecon Indoor Market recently you might be surprised at the number of stalls there and the variety of traders - particularly on a Friday and the Tuesday market is catching up fast.
New traders include Scrappy Patch - Marie Pope makes exquisite papercut cards and pictures. She also sells craft kits and is an Usborne bookseller.
Next to Marie you'll find Sunshine Valley Creations - Noelle sells handmade fabric bags, bunting, cushions and other fabric and crochet items which you won't find in the shops.
Another new seller is Gwalia Interiors, who also have a shop in Builth. Kate sells upcycled vintage furniture, antiques and bric a brac along with glassware and other carefully sourced desirable items.
Also new to the market are Bubblicious Barhtime, Blingo and Brecon Hair and Beauty Supplies. Bubblicious Bathtime sell bathtime treats and soya wax melts the market has never smelt so good!
Blingo sell a dazzling array of costume jewellery including tiaras. They also sell handbags and they replace watch straps and batteries.
Brecon Hair and Beauty Supplies sells an exciting range of makeup and other hair and beauty products that can't be found elsewhere in Brecon.
There are many other new stalls and lots of regulars selling meat, welsh cakes, homebaked cakes, bread, pies, crystals, handmade jewellery, antiques & collectables, rugs, clothing, tools, incense sticks and much, much more.
Some attend the Tues market, some on Friday and some traders attend both so it's worth visiting both markets to experience the full range on offer. One trader, Centre of Attention, who have a shop in Lion St Brecon, told Fyi:Brecon that they have taken a stall in the market as they wish to support it and help attract footfall, without which the market would struggle to survive.
Of course Brecon is a market town and is lucky to have such a lovely, historic building to hold markets in. The indoor markets on Tuesdays and Fridays and other speciality markets which are held on Saturdays are accessed via the Market Arcade which is the location for several small shops/units and is a great shopping destination in its own right. In the arcade you'll find Paddy Sweeney, Butcher, the Gegin Fach Cafe, Knatty Knitters, Aiden Sweeney Gentleman's Outfitter, Macdonalds Fishmonger, Brecon Discount Carpets, S.J Matthews Grocery, D&P Homewares and the newly opened Best Wishes greeting cards (formerly trading in the market hall).
We are told that Brecon Indoor Market still have room for a few more traders in the Tuesday and Friday Markets so if you'd like to join them on their upward journey please contact the market managers who say they currently have a special incentive for new traders. Email info@little-bird-creative.co.uk for info.
Brecon Indoor Market and Brecon Market Arcade can both be followed on Facebook.
