FYI:Brecon paid a visit to the Watton Allotments last Saturday (8 August).
Alongside a myriad of vegetables, plots and sheds we were surprised to discover Brecon's own monkey sanctuary (above). Sue Spalding, who shares an allotment with Fiz Cowtan said:
"It's a bit of fun. The owner of the 'cage' arrived one morning to discover an orangutan swinging from the roof. Since then a few others have appeared. They've all been rescued from carboot sales and charity shops."
Allotment owner, Angus Kings, told us that the Open Day had been a great success with lots of visitors, many of whom expressed interest in becoming an allotment holder themselves.
