Tuesday 10 October was World Mental Health Day and local charities and organisations with links to mental health were invited to Brecon Indoor Market to meet our traders and visitors and promote their services. Representatives from Brecon Mind (pictured above), Care After Combat, Beacons Creative and Usk House Hospice came along on the day and there was also a secondhand book stall raising money for Alzheimer's Research UK (this is now a permanent stall at the market and donations of books are most welcome).
Adam Weaver from Beacons Creative (pictured above) was selling candles made at the Beacons Creative Social Firm whose underlying mission is to provide employment and training opportunities for people with learning difficulties and disabilities in a safe and caring environment. Adam said:
"This is a fantastic opportunity to promote what we do and also sell our products on World Mental Health Day."

The event was the brainchild of Brecon Market Steering Group Chair Jules Hore and organised with the help of our Market Manager. Jules said:
"This has been a successful day and we intend to expand on it for World Mental Health Day 2018 with more charities and possibly talks. We'd like to thank everyone who came along and supported the charities."
