Yscir county councillor Iain McIntosh has made good progress with the recently gathered internet petition and has provided an update for residents. He’s also warning residents of a separate internet company trying to offer a more expensive but slower option. Iain said;
“I’m now at the stage where 3 internet service providers are coming up with a proposal for the installation of a Wi-Fi based internet service for residents within the Yscir council ward currently suffering with poor connectivity. One will be chosen soon and the installation process should hopefully commence within the next 6 weeks or so.
I’ve made sure that ALL residents will be given the opportunity to receive a 30mb connection for around £30 per month with NO installation fee. Installation costs will now be met by the Welsh Government Access Broadband Cymru (ABC) scheme. Higher speed packages will also be available.
I will post further updates to say which company will be providing this service when possible.
In the meantime residents should be aware of a separate internet company now travelling around the ward offering an alternative service. This company is NOT signed up to the ABC scheme which means they will be requesting an installation fee of around £200, they will also be asking for a higher price for a 30mb service. This company is NOT part of my project and I’m advising that a cheaper solution will be available soon! More stories
