Dear all,
For this years Brecon Womens Festival we are looking for artists, writers and
more to take part in a project based around the work of Clarissa Estes
Pinkola. As an author and psychoanalyst, she has travelled the globe
collecting fairy tales and stories from different cultures.
Her book 'Women who run with the Wolves'is the result. It highlights the
recurring themes and architypes that these varied stories have and her
analysis identifies the profound lessons they have for women in the modern
world- insisting on our need to return to our more intuitive and creative
selves and showing how the stories themselves can show us the way. True for
men also perhaps?
The stories are rich in symbolism and we would like to create an exhibition in
response to them. We have chosen a selection of the stories to use.
Skeleton Woman
Soul skin: Seal skin
The Red Shoes
The Crescent moon Bear
The Ugly Duckling
However, there are others and the book is available to buy on-line if you
would like to have it as a resource and to read further.
The festival will run from the 2nd- 11th of March. In order to set the
exhibition up we would need work to be delivered to The Muse by Wednesday 28th
February. Please feel free to work in word or image and we hope you enjoy the
stories and the process! It might be nice to gather during the week to share
on the experience if people have the time and would like to.
