Bute Parks' mixture of mature parkland, woodland and riverside makes it surprisingly plentiful in wild plants, flowers and a variety of fungi throughout the year.
We will meet at the Castle Street entrance to the park, outside the Pettigrew tearooms. The course starts with a short introduction on what to look for and a brief of the general countryside codes.
We’ll set off on a roughly 2.5 hour walk around the park teaching you how to identify the different plants and mushrooms we find.
We'll stop along the way for some seasonal homemade refreshments such as our lovely hogweed and wild garlic soup, elderflower champagne or fruit leathers.
After the walk we will end the day with a tasty wild food lunch based on what we have found.
After the course we will email you a list of everything we talk about to help you to remember what you have learnt.
Dates; 3rd August, 3rd & 29th September, 22nd October. Please see our website for full details of times & prices.
