The role involves regular cleaning of the Cathedral, Cathedral Shop, Tithebarn, Pilgrims Tearoom, and associated toilets and transit areas. Other duties include the arranging of the areas involved for exhibitions, interactive children’s days, or meals or other functions, as well as returning the areas to their standard configurations.
The role is based on working 5.5hrs a weekend split between both days. Generally, between 9-10.30am on Saturday mornings for the Cathedral and between 6-8pm to clean the Shop, Pilgrims and Tithebarn, on both Saturday and Sundays, although this may change as required for specific functions requiring later working.
The person needs to be self-employed and invoice the Cathedral and Tithebarn for the number of hours worked at £11 per hour.
As the Cathedral shop etc are contained in the Cathedral Close, which is locked to the general public after the general access times, any change to the normal working hours needs to be communicated in advance, to alleviate any possible security concerns. This also means that anyone not employed by the Cathedral cannot be on the site during these times.
