Poster competition for pupils now open
Year Nine pupil and below in Powys and Ceredigion could win a family ticket to Wales’ premier agricultural show by designing a poster.
Positive Pathways Powys, the group which organises the Powys Careers Festival, want pupils in the two counties to take part in their poster design competition.
Aimed at pupils aged 14 and under, the competition is to design a poster to promote the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show.
The competition’s design brief is that the poster will be designed to attract people to attend the Royal Welsh Show 2020 from the Royal Welsh Show’s non-traditional audience. For example, how the Royal Welsh Show can attract people from urban communities to educate them around where their food comes from and the value of farmers.
A trophy, certificate and a family ticket to next year’s Royal Welsh Show will be presented to the winner, who will also have the opportunity to work with a graphic designer to complete their poster.
Jackie Parker, Chair of the Positive Pathways Powys Group, said: “This is a fantastic competition for our young learners in Powys and Ceredigion.
“The final judging will be will take place at County Hall in Llandrindod Wells during the week of Monday, 10 February 2020 and will include the Chief Executive of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
The winning entry will be presented with their prize at the Powys Careers Festival on Wednesday, 4 March 2020, which will be held at the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd.
Entries to be emailed to jayne.bevan@powys.gov.uk or posted to Jayne Bevan, Powys County Council, Powys County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, Powys LD1 5LG but need to arrive no later than 5pm on Friday, 31 January, 2020.
