This Valentine’s Day thousands of people all over the UK are once again stitching, knitting, painting and baking green hearts to raise awareness of the hugely important issue of climate change. The Women’s Institute is a founding member of The Climate Coalition (TCC), a group of over 100 organisations and over 15 million people working for action on climate change. One of the TCC core campaigns is focussed around Valentine’s Day, and aims to show people that climate change is affecting the things they love, such as chocolate, bees, and beaches, and it asks people to wear and share green hearts to show that they would like to see action on climate change.Powys Brecknock Federation are doing their bit by holding a Love Your Heart coffee morning in Brecon Guildhall on Friday 14th February from 10am until 12 noon. Entry is £1.50 and includes tea or coffee and biscuits. Green hearts will be available to buy and wear, or make your own and bring it with you – there are plenty of patterns online. There’ll be a fabulous cake stall as well as a raffle and tombola, Anyone concerned about climate change is welcome, so please come and support this important cause.
