Introduction to Authentic Movement
It is difficult to explain Authentic Movement. Basically, you are setting aside a time where you can give your body permission to move however it feels like, no directions, no outside stimulus. The movement arises from deep within, and is often surprising, unexpected, and deeply moving. Often it feels like the ultimate luxury to take this time to just be present with the body, it’s impulses, memories, and needs.
There is no right or wrong way to move. Just like a mindfulness meditation, the mind is present and witnessing the body without judging, without directing, without driving. There is also a compassionate companion, your witness, who experiences your move with you, and can remind you of your movements afterwards.
