As community centres will soon be allowed to open to the public, we would like to restart our Food Co-op asap!
If you are interested, please get in touch by email (there is a 'send email' button on our facebook page) or by phone 01874 611723 option 1.
Here's how it works:
Customers order by 4.30 on Wednsday, either by phone, text or email.
I go down to Merthyr to collect the fruit and veg on Friday mornings and it is sorted and ready to collect between 12:30 and 4pm on Fridays.
Customers pay on collection and can re-order at the same time if they wish.
We can offer the following:
Fruit, veg or salad bags £3 each
Stew pack £2
Welsh spuds £2
Sometimes we can get free-range eggs for £1/6 eggs but we have a bit of a supply problem with this.
The bag contents vary from week to week as the supplier keeps the prices down.
This co-op is made possible by pooling money together to keep the cost down - it's not like a shop and we only collect orders that are supplied to us by the marvelous Stephen Williams and Sons of Merthyr, who operate various market stalls and other food co-ops in Merthyr and the Valleys.
New customers - I need to speak to you on the phone or by email, briefly, to make sure everything is understood - this is because unfortunately lots of people have ordered but not collected, so we lose money. Please call or email so that we can explain everything - once we know you it's very simple and easy and most people just order by text.
These are great prices for good quality produce! We try to reduce packaging where possible and offer a great way to provide healthy food for your family at friendly prices - why not get in touch? As soon as we have enough numbers, we can get going.
