In 2019 Brecon twinned with the village of Dhampus an area of Nepal where many of the Nepalese community and Gurkha soldier families in Brecon are from.
Members of Brecon Rotary Club were fortunate to have joined the delegation from Brecon who visited Dhampus for the twinning celebrations back in 2019.
Unfortunately, COVID in Nepal has been devastating and regrettably the pandemic has reached the rural community of Dhampus where families and our friends have lost love ones and the community is struggling.
Thankfully, the Brecon-Dhamphus Twinning Association have been raising funds in recent weeks to help our twin town during these terrible times.
Following a request for funding, Brecon Rotary Club members agreed to support the Twinning Association with their ongoing fund raising efforts.
Receiving a cheque for £500 from Roger Reese, President of Brecon Rotary Club is Cllr David Meredith, Chairman of the Brecon-Dampus Twining Association who is joined in the photo by Brecon Town Council Clerk, Fiona Williams and Rotarian Neil Sandford, a members of the twinning delegation to Dhampus, who proposed the funding support.
