About this event
I don’t need to tell anyone how difficult the pandemic has been for entertainers, promoters and audiences. Even now we can’t make plans without expecting things to change. New formats need to be devised. Online concerts have become a thing. Expressions like ‘A Thing’ have become a thing…
But nothing beats live entertainment. So we’re getting back out there, despite the possibility of restrictions.
On Saturday, 4th September, 7-8.30pm in the acoustically spectacular St Mary’s Church in Hay, the baby grand will be played masterfully by Martin Litton - so good he even has a Wikipedia page - and I will be there, taking the mickey out of him and singing like A Nangel.
In this popular series of variety concerts we cover the finest and most astonishing tunes written during a particular year between 1918 and 1939.
This time we’re celebrating 1924, with the sublime (Tea for Two, Rhapsody in Blue etc) and the extraordinary (Indian Love Call, Two Little Babes in the Wood etc).
