When we were invited to join a Sheep Trek Experience that was being launched in the Brecon Beacons we were initially sceptical - why would we want to do that? To make matters worse it was the day after the jazz weekend in Brecon and we were slightly worse for wear having spent three days boogying on down at the Fringe gigs
However we have a twelve year old who was keen to go so last Monday (11 Aug) armed with a map we headed off to Crai to find Aberhyddnant Farm where Liz, Paul and Nicky Matthews were waiting with their flock of trained Jacob sheep and Brandy the dog. To our delight there were also puppies there but Liz said she can't guarantee their availability.
Puppies!

We easily found the farm and we were greeted by Julia Blazer from Good Day Out who introduced us to our fellow trekkers, which included a visiting family from Germany and barefoot walker, Lynne Allbutt

After choosing our sheep we were led away from the farm along tracks through fields, over streams, along hedgerows, taking in the most stunning scenery and views of the Brecon Beacons, until we came to a barn where our picnic lunch was beautifully laid out.

Watch the film at the top of page to get a taste of sheep trekking - there are more dates available throughout the year. Visit www.gooddayout.co.uk for more details.
We had such fun! Even fyi:editor Nigel, better known for his musical abilities, bonded with the sheep.
