A farmer from Libanus has been fined £100 at Brecon Magistrates' Court for racially abusing a paratrooper.
The incident took place in a Brecon pub, where Private Aaron Numkoosing (pictured above wearing a green beret while training with Marines) was drinking with friends.
22-year-old farmer Osian Davies admitted racially aggravated harassment.
Pte Numkoosing, 30, from London, was told to get out of the way by Osian Davies in the pub toilets before being called the n-word. The paratrooper allowed him to pass but was shocked by the remark, said Lisa Jones, prosecuting.
Shortly after the incident, Davies approached Pte Numkoosing (who has served in Afghanistan) telling him he was 'white and you're not'.
Ms Jones told the court a security guard intervened and told Davies to go away. But Davies repeated the racist insult and replied: "He shouldn't be in my country."
The security guard flagged down a passing police car and Davies was arrested.
Pte Numkoosing said in his victim impact statement to police: "I was born in London and lived all my life in England. I cannot believe someone would use that word."
Col Tim Van Rees, defending, said: "The defendant is not a racist of any sort. He stands before you totally ashamed of what he did."
Davies was also ordered to pay a £75 fine, £85 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge. More stories
