Dog owners have been urged to stay vigilant after a case of fatal disease Alabama Rot was confirmed in Brecon.
Areas walked were :Daily walks are around Brecon (mainly around Brecon showground) and longer walks up Mynydd Illtud.
The disease affects all types of dog or any age or weight and can lead to sudden and fatal kidney failure.
Nine out of ten cases are believed to be fatal.
It is not known how the disease is transmitted and there is currently no direct treatment available.
The first sign of the disease is usually a skin sore which is not caused by a known injury. These are most commonly found just below the elbow or knee, or on the nose of the dog.
Within seven days, the dog can develop signs of kidney failure, which can include vomiting and reduced hunger.
It is believed the condition may be picked up from woodland mud, so dog owners are advised to wash any mud off immediately.
