Cabinet member for Powys Transport and Highways Liam Fitzpatrick says : " More snow is expected this afternoon and we are seeing major disruption that we have not seen since 1982 on our highways and networks so the advice is still to not drive unless there is an emergency . We currently have 32 gritters / snow ploughs out and are also utilising private contractors to help but our secondary roads - B and C roads are very badly affected as we attempt to keep primary routes open - to hospitals etcetera .
We are also currently helping the emergency services and the NHS with issues throughout the county and are in constant contact with all emergency services . Powys waste and recycling staff are also assisting Highways staff who are working around the clock to help out " More stories
