Master guitarist Remi Harris is returning to Theatr Brycheiniog this year, with his two band members, after previously performing here as part of the Brecon Jazz Club.
The Remi Harris Trio takes Gypsy swing characteristics and infuses them with influences from jazz, blues, rock n roll, world music, and much more.
The concert will feature an eclectic mix of original compositions, jazz standards, and new arrangements of well known pieces. Musically, the show will be a reflection of Remi’s artistic influences, with the repertoire ranging from Django Reinhardt to Jimi Hendrix and all things in between.
Remi Harris is a guitar talent not to be missed; at the British Jazz Awards 2017 he came second in the ‘Guitarist of the Year’ category, beaten by legendary Martin Taylor MBE. Other recent career highlights include playing at Buckingham Palace, at Montreal Jazz Festival and accompanying Jamie Cullum at the BBC Proms.
Here is what Remi has to say about his return to Brecon:
‘I have always enjoyed playing in Brecon, I first played here with my trio back in 2010 and I have been coming back ever since. The audiences are always very appreciative and I've got to know a lot of great people from the area through performing here over the years, it feels like a home from home.’
In this special show Remi will showcase his talents by playing a variety of acoustic and electric guitars, and will intersperse his performance with commentary about the history of the music and instruments he’s playing.
The Remi Harris Trio, Sunday 18 March. Tickets, £14.00 / £12.00 are available online at http://bit.ly/2Ap7AOp or by contacting Box Office on 01874 611622.
