Andrew and Jules Hore who organise the annual Poppy Market in Brecon Market Hall have asked Fyi:Brecon to help promote a set of limited edition prints which will be auctioned to raise funds for Care after Combat (Wales) a charity which supports ex service personnel who have been in prison and need housing, employment, help with benefits etc.
The prints are taken from a painting by artist Jeffrey Phillips (pictured above left with Andrew Hore), depicting scenes from the Falklands War 1982, which was displayed at the first Poppy Market.
Jules Hore said of the painting: "We got talking to Jeffrey and asked if he would paint a panel to mark the 35th anniversary of the Falklands war and he agreed. The Falklands panel was displayed at last year's Poppy Market and also at the Guildhall reception after the dedication of our bench and memorial in Brecon's peace Garden. It was seen by the former Governor of the Falkland Islands Alan Huckle and he has arranged for the panel to be transported down to Port Stanley where it will be on show in the Museum there as part of the display about the War. This is obviously a huge honour for Jeffrey and also a bit of a coup for Brecon."
The painted panel has now been professionally photographed and each copy has been signed by Jeffrey.
There are just six photographic copies of the painting; Jules and Drew own one and the other five will be auctioned to raise funds for Care after Combat (Wales).
