Still time to apply by 10 October for grants of up to £400 for college/university students or vocational trainees/apprentices with a Brecon town address. Email edmundjonescharity@gmail.com for an application form or to check you are eligible to apply.
The Edmund Jones Charity has been supporting young people in Brecon for hundreds of years, providing grants for books and equipment to help local people with their studies. The charity manages a building in Brecon which was left in trust by Edmund Jones in 1674, and the profits from the rental of this property are used to make annual grants to students, university undergraduates, apprentices and vocational trainees registered at an address within Brecon town.
Who can apply?
Grants are available for young people aged 16-25 who can prove they are resident at an address within Brecon town, although they don’t have to be studying in Brecon.
Applicants can be college or university students. We also encourage applications from apprentices and vocational trainees. Appropriate organisations or groups can also apply for grants towards educational projects that will benefit groups of young people in Brecon, particularly those aged 16 to 25 years.
Grants cannot be made directly towards the cost of courses or qualifications. Instead we can support the cost of books, resources, software, tools and equipment to support your studies. Receipts may be required. Grants are awarded at the discretion of the trustees.
How to apply?
The trustees assess applications and award grants twice a year, in October and April. Deadlines for 2018: 10 October and 15 April 2018.
In order to apply you need to email edmundjonescharity@gmail.com or phone 07867 804 108 to request an application form. This will be sent to your home address in Brecon, to prove your eligibility to apply. Unfortunately we are only able to consider applications from people who reside within Brecon Town.
