We all know Frankenstein; the tale of the monster made of and by man. A cautionary tale, a creation story, an outsider story… a love story. This November, a new Frankenstein is born thanks to Artistic Director Phil Williams’ compelling new adaptation of the ultimate gothic fantasy.
This new production frees the story from its 19th century bounds, with a setting that is neither specific or limiting – it is a tale for any era, unrestricted by time. What makes a monster? Are they born monstrous? Is there a monster within us all? Frankenstein still raises essential questions about our moral judgements. It’s a story that is today just as important as it was 200 years ago, with our aching social inequalities and the ethical considerations surrounding our scientific and technological advancements.
Frankenstein features 6 dancers and 2 musicians who will create live music mixed with pre-recorded soundscapes. The show will include dialogue, dance, video and open captioning integrated throughout the set in order to make the production accessible for D/deaf, deafened and hard of hearing audience members.
Suitable for ages 12+.
Tue 13 Nov, 7.30pm. Tickets £15 / £13 are available from http://bit.ly/CDFrank or from Box Office on 01874 611622.
