FRIENDS OF BRECON AND DISTRICT MIND
TWELFTH-NIGHT CELEBRATION
with SKYLARK and FIDDLE BOP
Saturday 5 January 2019, The Muse, Glamorgan Street, Brecon, 7.30, £5 (Friends £2)
On Saturday 5th January the Friends of Brecon and District Mind are organising a twelfth-night celebration at the Muse, Glamorgan Street, Brecon, from 7.30pm. A warm welcome is extended to everyone.
We are fortunate to be joined by the guitar and saxophone trio Skylark which, on this occasion, will be supported by folk band Fiddle Bop.
Skylark ? consisting of guitarist Nick Smith, alto-saxophonist and vocalist Caroline McCookweir, and tenor and soprano saxophonist, violinist and vocalist Paul Kirby ? have been performing since the early 2000s. Seasoned musicians from diverse backgrounds, they put their unique stamp on material ranging from Miles Davis to Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan to Carole King, and Horace Silver to Gil Scott-Heron and Abdullah Ibrahim. Original songs by Caroline McCookweir are also included.
Fiddle Bop are a folk band led by singer-songwriter Paul Stevens on piano and vocals. They also include David Favis-Mortlock on violin and vocals, Joanna Davies on guitar and vocals and Graeme Lamble on bass guitar.
There will be a bar and an interval for a finger buffet, to which you are encouraged to bring a contribution, although some food will be provided.
The Friends support the work of Brecon and District Mind and raise awareness of mental health issues in and around Brecon, Crickhowell, Talgarth and Hay-on-Wye. It is open to everyone and holds talks, walks, social activities and fund-raising events.
