Brecon Women’s Festival returns for its eighth year with a programme that celebrates the creativity and achievements of women in and around Brecon. This year the festival is bigger than ever and we are delighted with the response from local venues and organisations who have submitted events for the programme.
The festival launch will take place at The Hours Cafe & Bookshop on Ship Street at 7pm on Wednesday 27 February with Kathryn Roberts, internationally renowned glass maker and owner of the Gate Gallery & Glassworks doing the honours and opening the Brecon Women's Festival Art Exhibition - which sees twenty five women artists respond to the theme of self portrait.
This year's programme includes a wide range of activities and events including talks, music, poetry, workshops, yoga, walks, exhibitions, art and even a stroll with 'Dinky Donkeys' (pictured below with Julia Blazer from Good Day Out, raising funds for Brecon Food Bank.
Venues include Theatr Brycheiniog, The Muse Arts Centre, The Hours Cafe & Bookshop, Brecon Library, Ardent Gallery and Brecon Cathedral and organisations taking part for the first time are the Aberhonddu Angels WI group and Calan DVS. Also not to be missed is the Artisan Market on Saturday 2 March, 10am – 4pm in Brecon Market Hall.
