Enjoy old and new traditional Jewish music as the London Klezmer Quartet brings you the best of klezmer in a journey from the Baltic to the Black Sea – and beyond...
The quartet's virtuosic and enthusiastic approach and colourful anecdotes about its origins, breathe new life into old songs of love, life, food and drink. This is the soulful and celebratory music of Jewish eastern Europe at its most beguiling and seductive. Featuring the sultry vocals of Indra Buraczewska which combine with her musical dexterity on the double bass and that of Susi Evans (clarinet), Ilana Cravitz (violin), and Carol Isaacs (accordion). Their ensemble work and collaborative approach draw in music devotees from across the board.
“When Buraczewska sang, all the earthiness, profound melancholy and celebratory joy you could desire came surging to the fore via her vast, singular contralto.” Sydney Morning Herald.
