A Brecon church will be offering local businesses a chance to showcase their wares as it opens its doors to the community next month.
St David’s Church in Llanfaes’s community day will also give a platform to clubs, groups and societies and there’ll be plenty to see and do with crafts, stalls and a bouncy castle.
Rev Judy Day said the idea behind the event is “to highlight small and new businesses while giving people a chance to become a part of the church.
“We’ll have a marquee for businesses,” Rev Judy said, “and clubs and societies will be in the church. There’ll be opportunities for people to meet representatives from local businesses and clubs and societies.
“Brecon Singers and Alive & Kickin will be there, and people will be able to try yoga or flower arranging or even have a go at making a fishing fly.
“Our bell-ringers will also be there and we’ll be opening the outside doors so people can watch them ring, and have a taster themselves.”
The event will take place across three venues – Llanfaes field, the parish hall and St David’s – on September 14, from 10am to 4pm.
“We’ll have cream teas, an ice cream van and a burger van too,” Rev Judy said. “There’ll be lots of stalls and things for the children to do, including a bouncy castle.”
The following day, Sunday, September 15, St David’s will also be hosting its first pet service, when pets will be blessed. The service starts at 2pm – arrive by 1.45pm – and there’ll also be activities for children and refreshments.
